COInsur. Speaking at the IWDC about “Life Insurance: How to manage profit and growth in the current low interest rate environment. I think this is one of the big Issues the Insurance Industry will face at the current present and future, what do you think about?

IF. The development of interest rates is hugely important for life insurer. The economic framework conditions – particularly the interest rate level – have tended to deteriorate in recent years and decades. This situation makes it very difficult for us to manage life insurance business profitably, an important concern for our customers too. It poses huge challenges for product design and for investment management.

COInsur. How do you see the future of insurance life distribution, where is it going, are Banks more powerful than traditional distribution, and how can traditional agents compeet with?

IF. I believe that it is essential for life insurer to dispose of a strong multi-channel distribution organisation. This includes own sale channels, IFA, brokers and as well partners and so banks for example. However, the biggest opportunities but as well challenges do we see in digitalisation issues, in interaction between digital and analog terms, in changed customer needs and in delivering on this needs and finally on an excellent customer experience.

Sin embargo las grandes oportunidades las vemos en el campo digital, con una interacción entre lo digital y lo analógico”.
